Textile Artist Duo from South Africa - Specialist in Large Scale Hand Print Production
The art of EBRU printing has been declared a UNESCO Protected red-listed art form, Larissa & Stella DON have had their hearts set on reviving this celestial language through the water arts.
Marbling & Suminagashi have been used throughout history as a way to create unique and individual designs. With the renewed interest in this ancient art form contemporary designers can commission their own unique marbling design to use in single garments, small ranges or larger production runs.
The SA Marbling team have mastered suminagashi & marbling with both synthetic and natural pigments on a wide range of natural & synthetic fabrics, with print sizes ranging up to 3m by 1.5m
Clients find it useful that The Team can handprint on fabric that cannot be fed through a sublimation machine and that their 3m prints do not have any join or bleed lines. This offers wonderful play when cutting. Their production studio can hand marble in blots of 3 meter & handle up to 400m during Production.
After detailed consult and sampling with their clients, the Cloth is printed by hand in chosen technique and then returned for Creative Use.
They have left their one of a kind stamp on textiles that have graced catwalks locally in South Africa and appeared under wing of Designers in presentations & competition abroad in Paris, Milan, London, Tokyo..
